How many bags of postcrete per fence post?

As a rule of thumb, allow one to two bags of fast setting post mix per fence post, with two bags common for a standard 100mm concrete or timber post in a normal 300mm diameter hole.

The exact number depends on post size and hole dimensions, but for a typical garden fence with a 100mm post set in a hole around 300mm across and 600mm deep, two bags of fast setting post mix per post is a safe working figure. Lighter fences with smaller posts may need only one bag.

For a run of fencing, multiply by the number of posts and add a little contingency. Otis does exactly this from the fence length and post spacing, then prices the post mix and the posts together against the account.
