How the numbers work
The calculator divides the run by the panel width to get the number of panels, then adds one post per panel plus a final end post. Postcrete is estimated at two bags per post, and a gravel board is allowed per panel.
If your run has corners or steps you may need a few extra posts, so round up where the ground is awkward.

How many fence posts do I need?
One more than the number of panels, since each panel needs a post either side. This tool works it out for you.
How much postcrete per post?
Around two bags per post for a standard fence post in firm ground. Soft ground may need more.
What size fence panels are standard?
6ft, or 1.83m, wide is the UK standard, in various heights. Choose your width in the tool.
Do I need gravel boards?
They are recommended. A gravel board keeps the panel off the wet ground and extends its life.
