How many fence panels and posts do I need?
For a straight run, the number of panels equals the run length divided by the panel width, and you need one more post than panels. A 20m run of 1.83m panels needs about 11 panels and 12 posts.
Standard fence panels are 1.83m wide, so divide the total run length by 1.83 to get the number of panels, rounding up. You always need one more post than panels, because each run starts and ends with a post.
So a 20 metre run needs about 11 panels and 12 posts, plus gravel boards if you want them and post mix to set each post.
Otis takes the run length, works out panels, posts, gravel boards and post mix, checks stock and prices the whole fence for the account.
