How much skirting board do I need?
Measure the room perimeter, subtract the door openings and add around 10 percent for cuts and mitres. A 4 metre by 3 metre room with one door needs roughly 13 to 14 metres of skirting.
Work skirting out from the room perimeter. Add up the length of each wall, subtract the width of any door openings, then add around 10 percent for cutting waste and mitred corners.
So a 4 metre by 3 metre room has a 14 metre perimeter, and after taking off a door and adding waste you would order about 13 to 14 metres, in the board lengths that cut most efficiently.
Otis takes the room dimensions, works out the skirting length with waste, checks stock and prices it with any adhesive or fixings for the account.
