How much wall does a litre of paint cover?
A litre of emulsion covers roughly 10 to 12 square metres per coat on a smooth, previously painted wall. Bare or textured surfaces absorb more, so coverage drops.
Most wall emulsions quote coverage of about 10 to 12 square metres per litre per coat on a smooth sealed surface. New plaster, masonry and textured surfaces soak up more, so plan for lower coverage and usually two coats.
Otis takes the room dimensions, subtracts openings, applies the number of coats and works out litres and tin sizes, then prices them against the account.
