How many plasterboard sheets do I need?
Divide the wall and ceiling area by the sheet area. A standard 2.4m by 1.2m board covers 2.88 square metres, so a room with 40 square metres of surface needs about 14 boards plus waste.
Work out plasterboard by adding up the area of the walls and ceilings you are boarding, then dividing by the area of one sheet. A common 2400mm by 1200mm board covers 2.88 square metres.
So 40 square metres of surface needs about 14 boards, and you should add around 10 percent for cuts and waste around openings. Choose the right board type, such as moisture resistant for bathrooms.
Otis takes the room dimensions, works out the board count with waste, adds fixings and finishing materials, checks stock and prices it for the account.
