How many paving slabs per square metre?

It depends on slab size. 600mm by 600mm slabs give about 2.8 per square metre, 450mm by 450mm give about 4.9, and 300mm by 300mm give about 11. Add a little for cuts.

The count comes straight from the slab size. A 600mm by 600mm slab covers 0.36 of a square metre, so you need about 2.8 per square metre. A 450mm by 450mm slab needs roughly 4.9, and a 300mm by 300mm slab needs about 11.

For a full patio, divide the area by the coverage of one slab and add around 5 to 10 percent for cuts, breakages and the odd awkward edge.

Otis takes the patio dimensions and the chosen slab size, works out the pack quantity with waste, checks stock and prices the slabs, sub base and jointing together for the account.
