How much MOT Type 1 do I need per square metre?
MOT Type 1 has a compacted density of roughly 2 tonnes per cubic metre. At 100mm depth that is about 0.2 tonnes, or 200kg, per square metre.
To work out Type 1, multiply area by depth to get cubic metres, then multiply by about 2 to get tonnes, since compacted Type 1 sits around 2 tonnes per cubic metre. So 10 square metres at 100mm deep is 1 cubic metre, roughly 2 tonnes.
Otis does this instantly from the area and depth, converts to tonnes or bulk bags, checks availability and prices the load for the account.
