Otis works this out from a customer’s plan and quotes it on the merchant’s live pricing, in seconds.
Based on standard 65mm bricks and 440 by 215mm blocks with 10mm joints (60 bricks or 10 blocks per square metre). An estimate, always confirm with your merchant.
How the numbers work
The calculator multiplies wall length by height to get the area, then applies the number of units a square metre needs for your wall type. A half brick wall uses about 60 bricks a square metre, a one brick wall double that, and standard blocks about 10 a square metre.
It then adds your wastage allowance for cuts and breakages. Wall ties are estimated at around two and a half per square metre for cavity walls.
This is what Otis does, instantly
A calculator like this works out quantities. Otis goes further. It takes a customer question, works out the materials, checks live stock and pricing in the merchant’s own system, builds the quote and takes the order, day or night. What takes a builder a few minutes here happens in seconds on a merchant’s website and trade counter.
