boards needed, wastage included
Otis pulls the boards, screws and adhesive as one job and prices them on your live stock.
Board areas are the standard sizes shown. Screws estimated at about 25 a board, adhesive at roughly one bag per three boards for dot and dab. An estimate, always confirm with your merchant.
How the numbers work
The calculator divides the area you are boarding by the area of one board, then adds your wastage for cuts and awkward corners, and rounds up to whole boards.
It estimates drywall screws at around 25 a board and, for dry lining with dot and dab, adhesive at roughly one bag for every three boards. Skimming afterwards needs plaster on top, which this tool does not include.
This is what Otis does, instantly
A calculator works out quantities. Otis goes further. It takes a customer question, works out the materials, checks live stock and pricing in the merchant’s own system, builds the quote and takes the order, day or night. What takes a few minutes here happens in seconds on a merchant’s website and trade counter.
Common questions
What size are plasterboards?
The most common is 1200 by 2400mm, which is 2.88 square metres. Larger 1200 by 2700mm and smaller 900 by 2400mm boards are also sold.
How many screws per board?
Around 25 to 30 drywall screws a board is typical, fixed at regular centres around the edges and across the middle.
Do I need adhesive or a frame?
Dot and dab uses adhesive straight onto masonry. Timber or metal stud walls use screws into the frame instead, so skip the adhesive.
Should I add wastage?
Yes. Ten percent covers cuts, breakages and offcuts you cannot reuse. The slider builds it in.
