How many blocks per square metre?
A standard UK concrete block is 440mm by 215mm, so you get about 10 blocks per square metre of wall. Allow around 5 percent extra for cuts and waste.
A standard concrete block measures 440mm by 215mm on the face, which covers roughly a tenth of a square metre once you allow for the mortar joint. That gives about 10 blocks per square metre of single skin blockwork.
For a full wall, multiply the wall area by 10, then add around 5 percent for cuts, breakages and waste. A ten square metre wall therefore needs about 100 blocks plus a handful spare.
Otis takes the wall dimensions from a customer, works out the block count with waste, checks what you hold and prices the blocks and mortar together against the account.
