How do I lay kerbs and how much concrete?

Kerbs are bedded on a concrete foundation and held with a haunch of concrete behind. As a rough guide, allow a bed and haunch of around 0.05 to 0.1 cubic metres of concrete per linear metre, depending on kerb size.

Kerbs are laid on a concrete foundation, set to line and level, then held in place with a concrete haunch behind the back face. A common approach uses a bed below and a haunch behind, both in a suitable concrete mix.

As a working estimate, allow somewhere around 0.05 to 0.1 cubic metres of concrete for the bed and haunch per linear metre of kerb, scaling with the kerb size and the detail specified.

Otis works out the kerb quantity and the concrete for the bed and haunch from the run length, checks stock and prices it for the account.
